Home & Design tells the story of a Victorian row house on Capitol Hill. While owners Jack Ferguson and Veronica Slajer loved their find, it needed some TLC. “The house was a mess,” Ferguson said. “The basement staircase was in the dining room and the kitchen was in the basement.” A renovation was in order.
Architect Jennifer Fowler redesigned the layout of the home, gutted the basement and updated the adjoining carriage house to make room for guests. Both classic and modern elements find their place in the house; exposed brick and white cabinets in the kitchen contrast nicely to dark windows and doors.
