Prefab Showcased During Modernism WeekBy Marvin Windows
The Los Angeles Times previewed a prefab home that will make its grand debut during 2019’s Modernism Week. Held in Palm Springs, Modernism Week is an annual design festival which celebrates the style as well as historic preservation.
The designers of this home, Joel and Meelena Turkel of Turkel Design, aimed to create “high-quality contemporary living in a way that was not off-putting,” Joel said. In an area where custom homes are often difficult to obtain, prefab can be an easy choice. The owners of this prefab plan to stay for many years to come. For that reason, they were interested in pocket doors to provide easy access to the outdoors, and dual paned windows for increased energy efficiency.
