Frick Environmental Center

Architectural Products featured an article about the Frick Environmental Center located in Pittsburgh, PA. The building overlooks a natural watershed, and is intended to provide visitors the opportunity to get closer to the natural world and learn about some of humans’ effects on it. Having won a Living Building certification, which is widely regarded as the world’s most rigorous building standard, the center was built with much consideration for the environment. Rainwater is collected and reused. Geothermal heating and cooling help minimize energy demand. Natural ventilation is harnessed through manually operated Marvin wood-clad casement and awning windows. Architects thoughtfully designed each and every detail.
